With the credit of Karachi Electric Supply Company scrips, the number of securities held in the CDS increased to over 29 billion, experiencing an over all increase of 49 percent, whereas the market value of securities held in CDS has crossed Rs 924 billion
The induction and transfer of KESC shares has been handled smoothly and efficiently by the CDS, subsequent to the signing of bid documents for its privatisation.
Meanwhile, CDC has also started induction of units of open-end mutual funds in the CDS for the first time, with effect from November 21, 2005. This facility has been initiated by crediting over 147 million units of Pakistan Capital Market Fund in the CDS after the conversion of PCMF to an open-end Fund. With this facility, investors would be able to conveniently keep their entire portfolio of securities in electronic form in the CDS accounts.
CDS can now induct the complete range of capital market securities comprising of ordinary and preference shares, modaraba certificates, mutual fund shares/units (open- and closed-end), Wapda bonds and TFCs.
